2014 olympics television rights
What do you think of Gary Bettman answers to the NHL's stance on the Olympics?

Gary Bettman made an appearance on NBC between periods and was asked his opinion of NHL players not participating in the Olympics in future. He equated the NHL's indecision to NBC has not made a bid for TV rights for 2014: "We have not said no, "Bettman said." We have not said yes. "But by the way, neither NBC." What is the logic behind it? It's like he equates NHL's decision with a television network winning bid for TV rights. He has also mistakenly said that these Olympics are played by NHL rules (uh, no), NHL players and NHL arenas. I heard him correctly on that? Is he not even aware of the Olympics' international hockey rules?

NHL has actually created a quandry for both U.S. and Canadian networks. If NHL players playing in the Olympics, rights fees increase (like the proceeds to sell commercial time). The networks are waiting for the NHL to take a decision (which will not happen for another 2 years) before they can bid. The games are held on the other side of the world lowers bidding fees, as it is (advertising for tape delay events are much smaller than live events, especially in an internet era). Ultimately it is about money. As for the comments on the rules, have I have not seen the list but several IIHF rules have been dropped in favor of the NHL rules as a result of changes in ice size. You may have noticed in Canada Russia game more icing was waived off because Canada won the race for the puck Bill McCreary told CTV in Canada that tidbit a couple days ago.

NCAA Expanding Tourney to 96?! Are They on Crack?!

In today’s rocky economic climate, most households are cutting back wherever they can. And with cable and satellite television costing anywhere from $65-$150 a month (more if you count premium movie channels) many people are making their television sets the first part of their homes to get the ax. But what if there was a way to enjoy thousands of television channels, including hard to find international shows and sports programming, and never pay another monthly cable bill again?
