DirecTV does not receive the satellite signal?
I just upgraded to an HD receiver in my bedroom, and ever since it has been activated, I have only been able to receive a picture twice in the last 4 days. All the other times when I turn on the TV, it keeps' searching for satellite "and will make it for hours. My other 2 TV work fine. I've done everything they suggested, restarting, unplugging, checking cables, etc. (And yes, I have a b-band filter installed box) My satellite has a direct line of sight and the weather is crystal clear. The only thing I can not do is check the cables connected to satellite b / c it's on my roof. The tech is on way out in a few days, but I had hoped to solve the problem without having to pay fee. Proposal?
The first thing that caught my eye in this explanation is that you emphasize that you have a b-band converter attached. Is HD will also receive a DVR? If yes, you have two cables going to the receiver or just one? If there is only one line or is it just regular HD receiver you should try to connect the cables outside the BBC. The reason I say it is because you may live in an area where the installation of HD include a particular installation, which can screw with your signal. If you remove the BBC and who cleans your signal problem so you're good to go. If it does not work, it is best to have a tech come off to check it out. If you had DirecTV install the receiver and it has been only 4 days, so you should be covered under warranty and not pay the fee. The technician will check your cables, make sure your dish is done properly, check your BBC is functional (sometimes, like all electronics, they are bad), check the receiver operating properly, and many other things.
